What a striking graphical interpretation of the always classic black-and white motive. This quilt top was pieced with completed quilt blocks that were donated to us. The back was pieced from donated yardage at the bee at the Museum of Contemporary Craft.
Back.
The quilting was done professionally on a long arm machine by Nancy Stovall of Just Quilting.

This quilt can only be called center star! Again, this entire quilt top was donated, we backed it with flannel at our last quilting bee at Staver Locomotive. It might be a bit more traditional – at the same time has a lovely festive feel – and is almost conversational with very interesting detailing. Great for Fall!
A center star has been exquisitely applied/inserted. Such a great draw to little fingers.

Dimensions: 40″ x 40″

Lawn Chair Quilt – 005 – SOLD
September 26, 2011 at 8:38 am | Posted in Craftivism, Fundraising, Portland | 3 CommentsWell – what can I say, this quilt is a stunner. And and absolutely one of those quilts that you need to get your hands on. The Lawn Chair Quilt pattern has been designed by Monica Solorio Snow, aka the HappyZombie. Not only are all the fabrics from her own pattern line with Lecien, the top sheet has been assembled by her, and she wrote about the QfQ effort here! The backing is from donated yardage and it has been bound by Petra one of the many amazing members of the PMQG that helped us throughout this whole project. Thank you all again so much!
Dimensions: 50.5″x72″
The quilt has been washed – and the back sheet bled into the front – which gives the whole quilt a bit of a pastel green hue that is absolutely charming! And any more bleeding shouldn’t happen anymore.

This beautiful 12-block Log Cabin Quilt has a wonderfully subdued color scheme: greys with off white, blue and green. The blocks were donated, it was sashed and backed from – again – donated yardage and absolutely beautifully stippled by a member of the PMQG. This quilt would be wonderful for a modern gender-less nursery.
Diameter: 40.5″ x 41″

This quilt is one of my daughter’s favorites! This summery, girly 6 block log cabin quilt with wide yellow polka dot sashing is 46.5″ x 4″. The quilt blocks were donated by me (Daniela) from an assortment of left over fabrics from sewing projects for my daughter. Sashed at the Sew on quilting bee, quilted with wonky straight lines and hand bound by Patty.

Caramel and Chocolate is another beautiful Quilt. The Quilt blocks were donated by Jody (aka ChicaCraft) from Canada who organized quilting bees at her work place. Backing is a chocolate brown flannel, donated by Bolt. It was quilted with brown thread and hand bound by Patty at a quilting bee at Modern Domestic in Portland.

The days are getting noticeably shorter and cooler now that we have transitioned into September which feels like the perfect time to start selling the beautiful quilts everybody has created since the Earthquake shook Japan earlier this year.
Even though some quilts are still in the assembly stage, we are ready to get going. We will publish a post every second day to showcase each quilt in depth with further information about its history but also important information about size, diameters and composition, whether it has been pre-washed, what kind of binding technique was used etc. With all the donations we got it’s almost impossible to trace back all the people who have contributed to the piece, but we’d love to link back to you and your site. Just comment or email us with a link if you wish and we’ll update the post with the appropriate information.
This beautiful quilt was sent by us from the lovely Nancy, who in fact donated her first quilt or patchwork attempt ever! And it came out beautiful!!! When I opened her package I could not believe that she had never done this work before! The top sheet consists out of immaculately assembled and color coordinated strips in aqua, pink, brown and a bit of green with aqua sashing. The back sheet is a lovely batiste, in coordinating color that reveals at closer look two facing bunnies! Nancy had even prepared the binding so it was a real breeze and joy to finalize this quilt. This guy is sandwiched with organic cotton batting and has not been pre-washed yet. The quilt lines are straight and occur only on the sashing and borders which leaves the patchwork strips untouched.
Dimensions: 42.5″x48″
