The source of these beautiful star shaped quilt blocks is Cool Cottons! It’s their block of the month quilt. One of the quilting classes they teach at their dangerously well stocked store. It was pieced at one of our quilting bees, backed with donated yardage and finally quilted expertly on a long arm machine by Nancy Stovall of Just Quilting.
Dimensions: 47.5″ x 46″

This is such a fun and vibrant quilt! I don’t remember if it was donated in blocks or pieced here at one of the bees. Yet many of the strips look so familiar that I tend to think it was made out of donated strips only! This quilt is one of those where you can almost feel the fun the makers had! Many of us said how exhilarating it is to try to piece blocks out of fabric, print and color combos that we otherwise would have never chosen. And how fun is the outcome!
The back was donated at the Sew On! quilt studio bee. The design is the NW Modern quilt, one of the many projects from Susan’s book Modern Log Cabin Quilting available here at Amazon.
Dimensions: 32″ x 52″

This absolutely wonderful quilt designed and donated by Elizabeth Hartman of Oh Franson! is a total stunner. A blog/site that I would always recommend to anybody interested in quilting and patchworking. Her aesthetic is beautiful, her instruction clear and concise and definitely the best resource besides taking a quilting class from her at Modern Domestic when you happen to not live in town. This quilt was also part of her beautiful book Practical Guide to Patchwork available on Amazon.
Because of it’s larger dimension, the unique design and the exquisit stippling (I tried it myself yet need a loooot of practice until I am anywhere near Elizabeth’s skissl), we priced it at $200. No wonder it sold immediately. I myself purchased it – the color scheme beautifully bridges my daughters bedroom colors and it will always be a keepsake, reminding me of QfQ.
There are over 10 more quilts to be posted over the next few weeks! We are posting each M,W,F – so come back and see what’s still available and consider donating to Mercy Corps.

This quilt can only be called center star! Again, this entire quilt top was donated, we backed it with flannel at our last quilting bee at Staver Locomotive. It might be a bit more traditional – at the same time has a lovely festive feel – and is almost conversational with very interesting detailing. Great for Fall!
A center star has been exquisitely applied/inserted. Such a great draw to little fingers.

This is another quilt where the whole top was donated to us from a generous donor. The back is from donated yardage, the quilting was done professionally on a long arm machine by Nancy Stovall of Just Quilting. Finally, it was hand bound by one lovely member of the PMQG.

This is an absolutely unique quilt with a fresh and innovative color scheme. The quilt top was one of two donated quilt tops by Deb, and it was sandwiched at the Craft Party at the Museum of Contemporary Craft, and backed with donated flannel from Bolt.
It was beautifully quilted with a concentric circle design by Lara of Portland Modern Quilt Guild, and finally hand bound.
Dimensions: 55.75″ x 50.25″

This beautiful 12-block Log Cabin Quilt has a wonderfully subdued color scheme: greys with off white, blue and green. The blocks were donated, it was sashed and backed from – again – donated yardage and absolutely beautifully stippled by a member of the PMQG. This quilt would be wonderful for a modern gender-less nursery.
Diameter: 40.5″ x 41″

The days are getting noticeably shorter and cooler now that we have transitioned into September which feels like the perfect time to start selling the beautiful quilts everybody has created since the Earthquake shook Japan earlier this year.
Even though some quilts are still in the assembly stage, we are ready to get going. We will publish a post every second day to showcase each quilt in depth with further information about its history but also important information about size, diameters and composition, whether it has been pre-washed, what kind of binding technique was used etc. With all the donations we got it’s almost impossible to trace back all the people who have contributed to the piece, but we’d love to link back to you and your site. Just comment or email us with a link if you wish and we’ll update the post with the appropriate information.
This beautiful quilt was sent by us from the lovely Nancy, who in fact donated her first quilt or patchwork attempt ever! And it came out beautiful!!! When I opened her package I could not believe that she had never done this work before! The top sheet consists out of immaculately assembled and color coordinated strips in aqua, pink, brown and a bit of green with aqua sashing. The back sheet is a lovely batiste, in coordinating color that reveals at closer look two facing bunnies! Nancy had even prepared the binding so it was a real breeze and joy to finalize this quilt. This guy is sandwiched with organic cotton batting and has not been pre-washed yet. The quilt lines are straight and occur only on the sashing and borders which leaves the patchwork strips untouched.
Dimensions: 42.5″x48″
